How did you find your internship?

I found my internship through connections. My mother knew someone on the board at the hospital where she works that was an architect.

Why this internship?

(HAHA) it was the only one I had offered at the time, and it dealt with my major.

What were your general responsibilities?

I tried to experience all areas of the office starting with filing to designing but found myself being used to get their tedious work completed which was (red lining) AKA
bitch work - which is expected in an entry level internship.  It was however very helpful to be in an office setting.

What was a typical day like?

Working a 7am-4pm day typically started with any work I had not completed from the day before and than asking any of the various architects for work if they had not assigned me any.  Basically lending a helping hand around the office.

Did you receive any perks, benefits, or compensation?

The internship did pay me, at the time it was about 9 dollars an hour on the books.  I did not receive any benefits.  The perks of this internship was to say I worked for a reputable firm.  (putting this firm on my resume was one of the reasons I have a job offer right now from another company)

Where did you live?

At the time of the internship I lived at home

Future plans?

I have future plans of working in the architecture field.
(The internship really helped clarify what I wanted to do)

Any particular advice?

My interior architecture teacher just mentioned tonight an opportunity for an internship through her office just letting you know that teachers are hooking it up too.  Just
another resource to use…
